From the recording MY MUSEUM
3. Diego’s Waltz – this tune was supposed to be on my album ‘Mad Heaven’ from 2011, but didn’t quite make the cut for some reason. Written for my godson Diego Lignel, son of my dear friend (and cherished executive producer of three of my albums) Jean Charles Lignel. The song would later appear in ballad form with lyrics written with another student of mine from Berklee, the man, the legend, Mitchell Proctor and featured on my 2019 album ‘Somewhere’ with Kenny Werner. I always really liked the sweet and salty nature of the original jazz waltz version. Recorded at the late Manfred Knoop’s studio in River Edge,. NJ, with Ben, Tim Lefevbre, Keith Ganz, and James Shipp.
