From the recording MY MUSEUM
7. Just How You Like It – yet another song from the mid-90s. I think I had been listening to a considerable amount of Bonnie Raitt one summer (many summers probably), and wanted to write something a bit ‘earthier’ from what I would normally write. This is also from the ‘One August Afternoon’ session, featuring the divine Lauren Kinhan and I on backgrounds, my NYV brother Darmon Meader on tenor, and rascally talented (and funnier than anybody) Andy Ezrin on organ. The tune found its footing on live gigs and could really shake the place up. I remember performing it in a concert at my folks church in Guilford, CT and (though certainly PG-rated at best) my mom asking me to ‘alter’ the lyrics a bit to not offend anybody. I acquiesced.
